Award/Details

2013 Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship, Germany

Valeria was awarded a Fulbright to Potsdam, Germany where she taught a wide range of classes from middle school to university level. It was her job to facilitate international dialogue between students and to deepen their understanding of the English language and the United States. While teaching, Valeria continued to expand upon a research paper she previously began co-writing with Dr. Seth Feinberg on the media’s impact on reckless driving. In Germany, Valeria hoped to assist in a pre-existing Model United Nations cut at her school or to create her own, and to volunteer with student exchange programs. She was “beyond excited” to begin her Fulbright journey and see one of her “biggest academic dreams come to fruition.” She attended graduate school at the Technical University of Munich studying Consumer Affairs, and in 2016 received a DAAD Graduate Scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service to fund her master’s degree.
