Award/Details

2012 Ernest F. Hollings, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Sarah found her passion early on, which enabled her to attend the Ocean Research College Academy over her last two years of high school prior to coming to Western. She delved deeper into Marine Biology at Western, and in her third year, Sarah was awarded a Hollings internship with the National Marine Fisheries Service in Beaufort, North Carolina. During her time there, she investigated methods of sexing juvenile sea turtles using morphometric analyses. After her internship, she completed her final year at Western, with plans to take a year off before hopefully enrolling in a master’s program with the possibility of pursuing a doctorate degree.
