2009 Fulbright English Teaching Assistant, Uruguay

Nicole received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship award to travel to Uruguay. She assisted in English language programs in local schools and teacher training centers, in the provinces, as well as in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. Her responsibilities included giving presentations on topics related to the United States, sharing United States' culture with students, preparing activities that encourage students to communicate in English, and participating in or leading seminars, workshops and trainings. She also had the opportunity to take courses at local universities. In Uruguay, Nicole realized she wanted to work with middle-school students and planned to pursue a career in teaching Spanish in a bilingual program in the US after obtaining her master’s in teaching.
