Megan Boice

Megan laughs on a coastal beach with sand, water, and rock formations behind her. She is facing left, wearing a magenta rain coat, and her curly brown hair is tied up in a ponytail.

Award/Details

2016 Hollings, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Despite growing up in landlocked Idaho, Megan has always been fascinated with water, from the murkiest tide pool to the widest ocean. Proximity to the bay is what initially drew Megan to Western, where she was accepted into WWU's Marine Science Scholars Program. Since NOAA stresses the importance of education, Megan's extensive volunteer work on behalf of the Marine Science Center made her the perfect candidate. After winning the Hollings, Megan was able to further her love of marine science in a professional environment and gain hands-on experience in her field of study. During her internship, Boice developed a Junior Oceanographer camp and an underwater robotics camp.

Major
