Award/Details

2013-2014 Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship, Austria

Matthew was selected by the Austrian Fulbright Commission for an English Teaching Assistantship. He went to Austria to help students develop their conversational English skills and teach them about the United States’ culture. Matthew worked primarily at a business-oriented high school, but was also assigned to a college-preparatory high school. Both schools are in the town of Hallein, about twenty kilometers south of Salzburg. This teaching assistantship was intended for the duration of 2013, but at the end of the year, Matthew was offered (and accepted) a coveted year-long extension. He was very pleased with his time in Austria, where he endeavored to perfect his German language skills and learn more about Austrian culture.
