Le'Ana Freeman

Le’Ana is a firm believer that “it is opportunity, not capability, which creates successful students.” She won a Fulbright to Chennai, India with this conviction, particularly inspired to teach “in a country where English literacy is vital in defining one's opportunities.” At Western, Le’Ana worked as a peer mentor to provide first-year students with support and exposure to the opportunities Western offers. Through political advocacy and research centered on international human rights, Le’Ana works to support communities around the world with her strong interpersonal and resource mobilization skills. She has shown her dedication to supporting people around the world by teaching English and thus opening up their horizons, as English literacy is unfortunately a barricade to success in many places.

Le’Ana has most recently worked in Thailand as an English teacher focusing her courses on public speaking and effective argumentation. Only 27, she has “visited 18 countries, worked in 3, and conducted global research.”
