2011 Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship, NOAA

Kelsey is originally from Maple Valley, WA, and graduated from the College of the Environment here at Western. She was initially awarded the Hollings in 2011 and completed an internship with NOAA at the Virginia Institute of Marine Sciences. While there, Kelsey contributed to research in healthy tidal marshes and sea levels in the Chesapeake Bay. She remained in the program through the following summer, finishing in 2013.

What are they up to now

Since then, she has worked with the city of Everett to implement the Illicit Detection and Elimination program, and worked with the Center for Natural Lands Management, a nonprofit focused on the responsible management and restoration of important natural lands and waterways. Kelsey is currently working on a Master's degree in Restoration and Environmental Horticulture at the University of Washington.
