Award/Details

2015 Fulbright, Economics, Grant of Study to University of Toronto, Canada; 2014 US Senate Internship with Senator Murray

In the summer of 2014, Dan received an internship with Senator Patty Murray. According to Dan, his internship was an incredible experience, and he was most excited by the knowledge that he was doing something concrete. Even doing something as seemingly inconsequential as answering constituent calls or giving a tour of the Capitol Building, he knew that everything he did was serving representative democracy, with real implications for public perceptions of policy. Having spent his childhood in Republic, WA, a stone’s throw from the Canadian border, it wasn’t hard for Daniel to choose the University of Toronto for his master’s after completing his bachelor’s in economics at Western. What’s more remarkable is his energy, drive, and overall excellence in economics, mathematics, and energy policy, and the seamless way he has woven these interests together.
